CallerID

Voice Announce CallerID System

Please note: We are no longer supporting or improving this software. You are free to download and use it, but don't expect any updates - or timely responses to questions about it. Thank you!

This Windows program uses your CallerID modem to track incoming calls. Incoming calls are announced using .WAV files or Creative Labs Text Assist (depending on if you have a .wav file recorded). It prints list of callers, shows history for any caller, stores custom notes for a caller or use the modem to dial the phone. Will even hang up on unwanted callers (i.e. carpet cleaning salespeople, etc.)! This program is especially invaluable on Saturday mornings when you're lying in bed and don't want to be inturrupted unless it's important - you can know who's calling without having to move a muscle!

To use CallerID, you need a modem that has caller ID capabilities, plus caller ID service from your phone company. It works on Windows 3.1 or higher. You're not required to have a sound card, but CallerID is a whole lot more useful when it can voice announce your callers! Optionally supported is Creative Labs Text Assist - CallerID will use this to read the names of unknown incoming calls.

All versions of CallerID are shareware - when you register you will get a registration code that will enable all future versions.

The 32 bit beta is out!
(Version 1.5 beta 9 is dated 5/18/98)

The latest 32 bit beta version is available here to download. It runs on Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0. It adds TAPI support, numeric pager support and a bunch of other little things.

Note: This is a beta version, so download it at your own risk. I've been running it for a couple of months here, so I'm pretty sure it won't cause any catostrophic damage! :-)

Make sure you read the release notes before installing (they will display when you run the installation program, but before install starts).

This version supports add-ins! You can develop your own add-in with Delphi (Delphi 3 is the only version supported at this point) with the Delphi Add-In Pack (2 K - source code only)

This version supports the Speech API rather than Text Assist (although the current documentation does not tell you this). You can get a Speech API compliant Text-To-Speech engine (11.5 megs of SDK and engines) from Microsoft's Research group!

CID32V15.EXE (Beta 9 - 811 K)

Beta 9 fixes the "initializing" problem after dialing out - plus adds some logging capabilities.
